Cox’s Bazar Superintendent of Police (SP) Rahmat Ullah has been released from his post. The police headquarters took the decision after the national daily Jugantor published a special report on the allegations of the sale of 350,000 yaba pills.

Sources said that on February 17, Jugantar published an investigative report in this regard. It mentioned that reliable information was found about the involvement of SP Rahmat Ullah. When the matter came up for discussion, the police headquarters ordered him to stand release.

A high-ranking police source confirmed that SP Rahmat Ullah has been asked to report to the police headquarters on February 18.

Police Headquarters DIG (Administration) Kazi Md. Fazal Karim said in an order that the next senior officer of the district police has been instructed to report to the headquarters as soon as possible after assigning the responsibility.

However, no official from the police headquarters agreed to make an official comment on the matter. Meanwhile, a source from the Cox’s Bazar district police said that an internal police investigation has been initiated into the matter.
